HAPPY 100TH POST TO ME

This blog started as a hobby, and don't get me wrong, it is still just that. It has never mattered to me how many readers I have or if anyone is even reading at all. If you are, thank you and I hope that you enjoy reading my random thoughts and rambling.  This space has really been an outlet to express my creativity, jot down ideas, and manifest inspiration.

And my god, it has been 100 posts.

POST GRAD HOW-TO: DECORATE YOUR FIRST APARTMENT

Between picking a home style and finding things you can afford, decorating your first apartment can seem overwhelming. Luckily, you have seasoned postgrad to help you out!

Lets start with the basics:
1. Small accents add character and are affordable
2. Pillows are an easy way to add a statement to a room, try mixing and matching patterns.
3. PLANTS! they are pretty, cheap, and very chic. Look out for succulents and air plants.
4. Rugs tend to be expensive, but if you can find a good deal, they really tie the room together.
5. Candles work three fold, they smell nice, set a relaxing mood, and look pretty. Even prettier when they are starting to burn down.

POSTGRAD LOVES: SLOTHS AND NUTELLA

I have never seen them together, but this gave me a good laugh.

Herrrrrrrroooooo.

BRILLIANT BOWTIES

I am going crazy over bowties. They are so freaking cute I can't handle it. However, after recently purchasing one for myself, I got very nervous to actually wear it out of the house. Finally, I wore it out for a dinner date (at Elephant Sushi in Russian Hill...omg best sushi I have ever had!) and got some serious compliments.

Lesson learned: Take chances on style, if it doesn't work, who cares? You're dressing to impress yourself anyways.

Tips for rocking this look:
1. Wear With Collars: I personally think this look works best with a collared shirt.
2. Add Layers: A sweater, blazer, or leather jacket work great here.
3. Chambray for Day: Chambray shirts work great with colorful or patterned bowties for a fun spring/summer look
4. Add A Girl Touch: Don't style too masculine. Add lipstick, a skirt, a topknot, or all three to top off your look.

BEST DRESSED: MET BALL

After seeing the Met Ball photos I was ... bored. Let down, if you will. The theme this year was punk, Where was the Christian Siriano? WHERE WAS THE ALEXANDER MCQUEEN! Somehow the attendee's idea of punk translated in black gowns and eyeliner. Yawn. Or they disregarded the punk notice and just wore pretty gowns. I love pretty gowns as much as the next girl, but save that for award season! So much could have been done, I am so disappointed. That being said, there were serious standouts for Best Dressed this year.

Holy Platinum Blonde Hair! Amazing. The Dress, also amazing.
Anne Hathaway in vintage Valentino

My favorite look of the evening by far.
Cara Delevigne in Burberry

Usually three loud pieces are overwhelming, but they are perfectly complimenting each other here.
Elizabeth Banks in Versace
Obsessed with this jacket beyond words, plus the hairpiece looks ridiculously cute on her.
Sienna Miller in Burberry

Amazing back detailing.
 Dakota Fanning in Rodarte

The Red Carpet needed more leather! Thank you Doutzen.
 Doutzen Kroes in Theysken's Theory

Obviously she nailed the punk theme, and still looks beautiful.
Gwen Stefani in Maison Martin Margiela

Loooooooove this.
Kate Bosworth in Balmain

Although this is similar to her VMA's look, the girl is WEARING that mini.
Stacey Keibler in Rachel Roy

I love that she opted for a dark lip instead of smokey eyes and heavy liner.
Rooney Mara in Givenchy Couture

 Awesomely 80's.
Marion Cotillard in Dior

For me the necklace is a bit heavy, but I love the print of the dress.
 Leslie Mann in J. Mendel

I wish she had gone with more severe hair, but Swifty looks amazing in this dress. The lace panels are EVERYTHING.
Taylor Swift in J. Mendel

Risky look that definitely works. Loving the chainmail panel.
 Anja Rubik in Anthony Vaccarello
